Play the long game.

We don't believe in moving fast & breaking things. We think it's worth the time to build relationships, inventions, & impact that lasts. We're an accelerator that helps Oregonians launch & grow organizations that think the same.

01Our story

Oregon's Oldest Accelerator

Oregon's Oldest Accelerator

Housed at Portland State University since 2007, we've helped grow hundreds of companies including Jama Software, Absci, and ESS.

These days we focus on the middle ground between mom-and-pop shops and unicorn-or-bust startups. Founders who want to scale fast, keep their values, and enjoy their lives. Startups, non-profits, governments, and creators all welcome.

02Who we serve

We focus on artists, deep tech, & social impact.

Three audiences. Same long-game commitment.

01 · Artists

Artists

From fashion designers to sign manufacturers and content creators, we help founders who think about the beauty they add to the world first, then ways to scale to the widest audience.

02 · Deep Tech

Deep tech

From university professors to industry experts, we help founders who know it may take years of R&D before launching a product and capturing their market.

03 · Social Impact

Social impact

For ex-nonprofit or public sector to serial social entrepreneurs, we help founders balance impact with pace and scale.

Out-of-State Funding

We identify funding opportunities, build assets, and do outreach with a specialty in out-of-state funding.

03 · Build

Soft Goods & Prototyping

04Our team

A ragtag team led by Arsh

Arsh Haque
Arsh Haque
Director · PSBA

Arsh is a serial founder who runs a VC-backed startup, PSU’s accelerator and VC fund, and manages an SBIR-focused university spinout program for the National Institutes of Health.

They are a queer, mentally ill person of color who has helped raise $200M for startups, VCs, and non-profits, and hopes to write a new playbook on how to quickly scale without running your wellbeing or values into the ground.

05FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm running a non-profit / creative project / government initiative. Is an accelerator really for me?

Definitely. We care about helping you scale your impact and grow your community, no matter your organizational structure. If you want to use smart tech to build something the lasts, we want you here.

Do I need to be based in Portland or go to PSU?

Not at all. No university affiliation required. Because we have physical labs and workspaces, we naturally tend to focus on folks in Portland and Oregon, but we occasionally welcome national and international teams too.

Do you take equity?

No, not for most of our programs. You keep total control. However, because Arsh also runs PSU's VC fund, we do have the ability to write $5K checks, which can be a helpful way for us to get on your cap table and formally advocate for you as an investor.

What kind of funding do you help with?

We focus on a mix of traditional venture capital, specialized grants, and SBIRs. We especially look out-of-state to help you find funding that aligns with your goals and values.

How do you actually support founder wellbeing?

It's woven into how we work. In practice, that means regular burnout check-ins, respect for your personal boundaries, and genuine, founder-to-founder empathy. We want you to thrive, not just survive.

I've felt a bit out of place in traditional startup spaces. What is the environment like here?

Most of us don't fit the traditional mold either. But for the most part, we're happy, healthy, and absolutely crushing it. We want to invite you into an environment built entirely around the exact things that have allowed us to thrive, just as we are.

What do I get when I join?

You get a physical home base (co-working space, private offices, labs, and prototyping resources), a playbook to help automate your daily operations, and a strategic partner to help you find funding.

What's the time commitment?

Go at your own pace. Keep your day job, grind it out in sprints, or work a 9-5. We adapt our support to your life and schedule, not the other way around.
